Beauty and the Beast came out in 1991
Directed by: Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise
Because he was unkind to an witch disguised as an old woman, a curse was set upon a greedy prince (Robby Benson) so he would look like a beast. A rose controlled the curse and if the rose petals all fell down before the prince learned to love, he would be stuck as the beast forever. The last rose petals all fall on his 21st birthday so he lived in his castle hiding. In a near by village, a girl named Belle (Paige O'Hara) and her father (Rex Everhart) live together and a very annoying man named Gaston (Richard White) keeps trying to win Belle's heart. One day Belle's father wanders off and accidentally finds himself in the castle where he becomes the Beast's prisoner. Belle finds him and trades her freedom for her fathers. The Beast lets her father go and intends to keep Belle inside the castle forever where she and him are forced to live together. The Father then returns to the village and tells the others about the horrors of the Beast.
This movie is filled with talking furniture. Gaston (who is the villain in this movie) has a clumsy sidekick LeFou who is very mistreated and supplies the comic relief through out the movie. This movie also has bright colors appealing to the eye that aren't normally in real life. Belle was also curvy and attractive like most good guys are in animated movies.
I really love this movie. It is a classic and one of my favorites. I have been watching it since I was little and that's probably why. Beauty and the Beast never gets old. I would give this movie 9 out of 10 stars.
